Reality Shows

Reality shows are just about catching up in India.
Not so here, in the States.
Here, one will find reality shows on just about anything, from quitting addiction to house renovation, from cake shops to tattoo parlours, from getting married to having a baby!!
Back pain forced me to remain indoors yesterday where I was particularly apalled by two such reality shows.
The first one was Kathy Griffin's 'My Life on the D-List'. This lady who is known to thrive on her jokes by mocking others had chosen her own alcoholic mother as the object of her sarcasm! It was really tasteless the way she made fun of her mother's alcoholism in front of her invitees and the US audience at large.
The second was 19 Kids and Counting featuring the Duggar family. What are these parents who have given birth to 19 kids (no less) thinking? The psychology of the mother Michelle Duggar can be likened to the people on the streets of India who whip themselves to earn money. She goes again and again through the enormous pain of childbirth to prove that she can do something which the majority of human females cannot. Fathering 19 children is not a big deal at all - and men across generations have done the same albeit - cumulatively spanning several women. But how can a husband who professes love for his wife have her undergo this 19 times? The last man I can remember doing this was Shahjahan and they did not have advanced birth control at that time. The Duggar family refuses to use birth control as Mrs. Duggar lost her second child through miscarriage which they believed was due to birth control. How much time do the parents devote to each child I wonder. It's like they are Adam and Eve and God has asked them to 'Go forth and Multiply'. And I would not have had a problem with them had they stayed home and bred children by the score - what I absolutely detest is the fact that they are selling it - day after day after day. The last kid that Michelle had at age 43 was premature by 3 months. 'Nuff said.
